Braking Unsafe Trucking Companies

This segment of The Law and You features personal injury trial lawyer Don Corson discussing a national effort to reduce deaths and serious injury due to unsafe trucking practices.

TRANSCRIPT

JOEL: This is Joel Block for The Law and You with Eugene attorney Don Corson. Don, I understand that there is a national organization of consumers, attorneys, and legislators to help stop unsafe trucking company practices.

DON: Most commercial truck drivers are skilled and capable. Unfortunately, thousands of people are still being injured or killed each year in crashes involving 18-wheelers for the same reasons: delivery schedules that are impossible to meet safely; overloaded and improperly maintained trucks; over-worked, fatigued drivers; and, drivers with medical problems that should prohibit them from driving any vehicle. Until all trucking companies put people over profits, these crashes will continue to happen. I have joined with others in a national initiative to help eliminate unsafe and illegal trucking company practices. We are working to make America’s highways safer.
